What is glass wool?

Glass wool is a product made of centrifugal glass wool felt which is processed by Owens Corning (OC) centrifugal method, which is made of molten glass fiber and thermosetting resin-based environmentally friendly formula binder. Elastic felt-like body made of glass fiber with a diameter of only a few microns, and can be combined with different moisture-proof veneers according to the requirements of use. It has a large number of tiny air pores, which makes it play the role of thermal insulation, sound absorption and noise reduction and safety protection. It is a material for thermal insulation, sound absorption and noise reduction of steel structure buildings.

Glass wool belongs to a category of glass fibers and is an artificial inorganic fiber. Natural minerals such as quartz sand, limestone and dolomite are used as the main raw materials, and some raw materials such as soda ash and borax are melted into glass. In the melted state, the flocculent fine fibers are blown by an external force, and the fibers and the fibers are three-dimensionally intersected and entangled with each other to exhibit many fine gaps. This gap can be seen as a void. Therefore, glass wool can be regarded as a porous material, and has good heat insulation and sound absorption properties.
